Since 1969, BAM has been responsible for the approval of explosive substances and blasting accessories throughout Germany. From the 1970s onwards, it inspects transport containers for spent fuel rods.

A Milestone in damage analysis

When the canopy of the Berlin Congress Hall collapses in 1980, BAM investigates the cause of the accident. Among other things, steel reinforcements had corroded under tension. BAM's findings lead to numerous similarly constructed buildings being inspected worldwide.
